BPI Information Systems partners with Unitrends to provide data protection, system backup and rapid restore products

Disk-to-Disk backup solution designed for small and medium sized businesses looking for a disaster recovery plan

Southfield, MI, August 14, 2007:  BPI Information Systems is providing a new technology product that will quickly and easily back up data and systems for archival and disaster recovery.  With hardware and software developed by Unitrends of South Carolina, smaller businesses (as well as departments in larger organizations) can reduce the risk of lost data and system downtime.  This single vendor approach further reduces the complexity of data management, improves reliability and streamlines support.

“Over the last thirty years BPI has primarily used tape solutions for backing up system data,” said Beth Case, owner of BPI.  “A typical small business would protect each server with a tape drive made by one manufacturer and software provided by a separate software vendor.  Tape was adequate for smaller systems, but as data volumes continued to grow, tape couldn’t keep up.  Now we use a disk-based product with software from the same vendor.  This solution is faster, has greater capacity and is more reliable than tape.”

“We’re thrilled to be a partner of BPI,” said Duncan McPherson, CEO of Unitrends. “The company’s well-rooted history in the industry provides an excellent foundation to which we are pleased to add our Rapid Recovery solution.”
